High school problems

I finally registered to take the ACT next month, now the whole thing of me going to college in a little over a year is becoming real. I'll also have to register for the next SAT after that. Senior year will be nerve-wracking, especially if I don't do well enough on either of them and I will have to take them again.

They are not some kind of SUPER TEST from the dark realms. They are just like every standardized test you've had to take. Get enough rest, eat right, get a test book and take practice exams. And if you have to take them again? Take them again. It'll be okay.

The ACT is by far easier than the SAT, so it's good you're taking that one first. That said, they are both very standard tests, with nothing too complicated in any subject. What's your weakest subject in school? Most people can get away with only studying one subject.

English: Buy a grammar book and bone up on your "A is to B as C is to what?" problems.

Science: Earth Science pops up a lot, and there are always plate tectonics questions, I swear.

Math: Practice problems in a ACt study book.

For the SAT, a lot of the test is simply knowing what types of questions they'll ask and the methods of solving them quickly. See if you can get your hands on some old Kaplan books or books on SAT strategies at the library. Yeah, it's super nerdy, but trust me, it helps.

Other than that, don't worry. Tons of people have to take the test and low scores aren't going to torpedo your chances at college.
