jesus dick, this has gotta be the buggiest shit i've ever dealt with. i built a house in falkreath that my family wouldn't move into so i had to load an old save (before i even adopted my kid) to get them to stay there. my steward won't stay in the house still but i got my housecarl to hang around at least. had to work around a bunch of mods to get that to work.

i just adopted another kid and he thanked me for it but he doesn't actually move, he just stays at his old place and says he has to say goodbye to everyone first. husband still acts like we have two kids tho.

plus there are literal bugs in my house because they spawned in my greenery. no bueno

Get the unofficial fix. This shit does wonders.

oh i didn't see this one. i subscribed to the family patch one and i think (??? but only with all my mods enabled) it fixed some of the problems.

i'll try this one, ty !! i just want my damn kid to go home.

eta: it worked, which kinda surprises me tbh since nothing in this game ever works @___@ but thanks again!

Get the unofficial main patch as well. It takes care of a lot of the problems. And the other DLC patch fixes if you have those! Put them up towards the top of the load order though or they won't always fix stuff.

There is one bug it didn't fix... in Hjaalmarch (though I heard it happen to others) if you ask your steward to make improvements himself and then finish up building everything upstairs, it makes the game crash if there construction tables are still active inside. That drove me nuts for a while since I couldn't go in the house without it crashing on me. As soon as I used the table outside to remove the tables inside, it started working fine again. That's it (and it doesn't crash unless everything is built anyway, so there's no reason to keep the tables at that point)
