I'm in a fandom at the moment where there is an ongoing wanky ship war between A/B and B/C. Both sides are rather...passionate, although A/B is bigger and definitely louder with their constantly telling B/C shippers that they're immoral, bad people. It's pretty standard as far as ship wars go, but even though A/B vs. B/C is all over the place on Tumblr/Twitter/various fan sites, fic for B/C is pretty much non-existent, which just makes no sense to me. There is, however, a ton of fic for C/D (as much as there is for A/B, if not even more) even though no one ever even mentions the pairing outside of AO3/FFN/a specific LJ comm.

Has anyone ever seen anything like that? It's weird, and I'm kind of confused...

Is there a reason you can't give the pairings? It's very hard to discuss this otherwise.

"immoral, bad people"? Is there a reason why they'd say that? I'm just curious - usually, people will say a pairing has more chemistry, would make each other happier, would be hotter, etc ...

I think what OP meant by that was that the shippers of the first pairing were attacking shippers of the second pairing, calling them immoral, bad people. Which is common in shipping wars.

Yeah that was how I took it. I also don't get why OP can't say the pairing unless... idk, it's a really well-known controversial one and they'd expect to get dogpiled for bringing it up? Though it doesn't sound like that's the case because if it were I'd think people here would be able to guess right away what it was.

I almost thought Supernatural at first with the shipping wars and one side telling the other that they're immoral & bad people since I've seen some of that but not the 'fic for one pairing is non-existent' part. Also I can't think of a pairing that's really popular in fanfic that no one ever talks about

But regardless of what fandom or pairing this is about, no. I have never seen anything like that & it does sound weird. Your fandom is weird, OP.
