It won't be worth it. The new ones gonna be worse. They are selling the star power too hard. You know that = shit.

For fuck's sake, part of GI Joe's merchandising is that it's a whole army. How in the fuck does killing most of them off help them sell the toys? Not to mention cramp them in if they want to try another cartoon on the hub if the movie does well and I'm wrong.

rofl ... this could very well be me at some point in the near future. My friends mock my willingness to watch the shittiest movies ever (*cough*Race to Witch Mountain*cough*) just because he's in it. My response is always -- no matter how bad the movie is, he will doing something that will crack me up at some point and make it worth it. I salute your dedication.

Aww, I love Race to Witch Mountain! But then, I have two kids under the age of 8. If watching that means I don't have to watch something animated for a few hours that keeps their attention, I'm all for it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Eh it's not a good film but I'd rather watch this again that some of the other shit I've sat through and then wondered why I did when it was over.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I watched that movie for Christopher Eccleston. We all do crazy/stupid things for the people and/or celebrities we love. When I watched it, I couldn't believe all the similarities to Star Wars I found in it (specifically, a shot where Duke dangles in some sort of elevator shaft-ish thing exactly like Obi-Wan did in Episode I).

Also, did anybody get a kick out of the fact that this movie begins with the phrase "In the Not Too Distant Future"? Just me? Okay.

That movie was entirely worth it for Byung-Hun Lee. LAWD JESUS. I regret nothing.

I had no plans to see this movie, because I don't need to understand anything to appreciate Dwayne Johnson, but damn, I just may have to see it for Lee.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
WORD

I'm totally gonna go see it for some quality Byung-Hun time

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It was quite rewarding to sit through all the bullshit and have him take off his shirt for nothing other than fanservice purposes near the end.

This. So much this. I went because I'm a huge Stephen Sommers fan and came out going "I must see more of Byung-Hun Lee".

Right there with you. I'd watch anything for Dwayne Johnson. Well, almost. The only thing movie I suspect is probably too awful even for Johnson's biceps to make it better was Tooth Fairy.

I was totally against seeing Tooth Fairy, but then Stephen Merchant and Julie Andrews. So I gave up and watched it anyway. I mean, it's no worse than any other saccharine morale of the story kids movie.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh bb, please don't watch that movie to figure out what Retaliation is going to be about. It'll just confuse you more. It's a large unit of US military special forces from all branches. That's all that's needed to be known. If you really want a basic idea of the show, watch the cartoons.

but knowing is half the battle

Dear Anon,

I love you.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
i'm laughing because i forced myself to sit through one of the rock's terrible movies just for julie andrews.

But it Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christopher Eccleston eye-fucking each other across the screen! What more could you want in a movie?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
I liked it! It was a mindless action movie with characters I liked and it wasn't Hurr durrr Murica like I expected.
