the only people I've heard using that defense are creeps with a passing knowledge of sjw-like terms, like kink-shaming, and who took the "accept people the way they are" to mean "people have to accept all your flaws and you never ever have to bother to improve yourself and if anyone criticizes you they're not your friends/they're wrong and you are right"
