Sure it could. it is easier to find new comments on lj for a start. And there would more of an encouragement not to moderate good threads out of existence there too. DW allows and encourages overzealous modding and freezings.

You'd think we could at least have comments on over on the lj link post, for those that still liked lj. It would be the best of both worlds, but no a certain someone is terrified that if given the option to comment on lj most people would. Which would make the DW fanatics wrong. Can't lose face like that though.

It's probably more because that would be too much work for the moderation team and Case doesn't want to add more work without any good reason? Your explanation kind of sounds like a bit of a conspiracy theory, frankly - I really don't think that Case, or f!s as a whole, is nearly as concerned with the whole LJ / DW thing as you think. I don't think Case cares that much about losing face in regards to DW. But that's just my impression.

Also, personally, I much prefer moderation that tends to be over-vigorous over moderation that tends to be lax. I feel like you have to be vigilant, or things will just slide down and down over time. But that's just my opinion.

The more moderation you have, the less vibrant the fandom is.

Sure nanny looks after you, but say something that nanny doesn't like and FastEddie bans you. And do you want F!S to be like tvtropes with that creepy ass fucker? That is what is happening right now. Less modding please, just post the pictures please and then bail until the next posting time.

solution: make your own community with no rules, relax in it by yourself where you can say anything to anyone with like-minded others

not a solution: crying about somebody else's rules in somebody else's sandbox

I did, but everyone was too busy playing blackjack to make secrets.

poor bb

it looks like the only course of action left to you is to cry some moar

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that is what I've been trying to tell you!

It's easier to find new comments on LJ if you have a paid account or are viewing a paid journal. It was exactly because of the commenting problems that F!S moved to DW.
