Keep track of what you eat. I write it down with pen on paper every day. Then you can't pretend you didn't already have a cookie, or two pieces of bread, or that bowl of pasta. Leafy green vegetables are your friends, starch is sugar and thus not your friend. Alas.

I use a stopwatch when I exercise, and am now up to 3 minutes jogging, 1 minute walking This is regardless of the terrain. Keeping to the time limit doesn't let me slack of with, "Oh, this is uphill, so I'll stop when I'm tired--like right now." As your stamina improves, keep increasing the jogging compared to the walking. (I began at 30 seconds running, minute and a half walking.)

Don't expect overnight results. It took you time to put on that weight, it'll take time to get it off. Good luck!
