Shipping comes from the heart and loins and shouldn't be motivated by obligation. Acknowledge it's a problem that you have trouble shipping couples involving fat people, and move on.

Honestly, the weight (... no pun intended) fandom gives to shipping preferences as a moral barometer is ridiculous.

-shrugs- I pretty much have the same opinion, OP. Though, I wouldn't feel too bad about not shipping it. It's *your* spank bank, and not shipping it doesn't mean that you view the idea of them being together as ~wrong~ or ~ disgusting ~. Just not something that is, on a personal level, unappealing to you.

Sometimes it's a little sad to see people forget that shipping preferences =/= bigotry in several cases.

I think you should really try to work on that fatphobia you've got going on there, OP.

I don't ship based on looks either, but if that is OP's only reason for shipping then I don't think they're fatphobic. It's a ymmv thing I guess. I ship to enjoy character dynamics, not to fap, and have no problem shipping characters I personally don't find attractive at all. But people approach shipping in different ways.

i don't personally find rae (or finn) attractive either but this secret makes me sad since they're extremely cute together and finn likes her the way she is...

i mean it's your "spank bank" and everything but i still like to think there's more to the story than just that, and if her weight is the only thing that's stopping you then maybe you should address that a little (even if, at the end of the day, you still don't ship them or find rae attractive)

What's your definition of shipping? Because, if shipping is all about porn for you, then it's only logical that you don't ship characters you don't find physically attractive. You shouldn't feel bad about it.

But even if it's not about porn, liking or not liking a character or a ship is still a emotional reaction you can't help. If you can't get invested into a character/ship because they are fat, then maybe you should investigate your prejudices in general. But as long as you are respectful and nice around real life fat people, I don't see the harm in not shipping this specific pairing.

I don't do porn for the pairings I ship but I just can't get invested in a ship unless I find at least one of the characters attractive. I'm a very visual-oriented person who prefers fanart over fanfic for my favorite pairings, and if I don't think the characters are attractive, then I'm not that interested in fanart of them. There needs to be that visual lure for me.

I can think ships are cute even if I don't find the characters attractive but I just can't get that into them. Does that makes sense?
