I've been pretty good so far about rooting for the good guys...but I don't want them to get rid of Emma for a long time.

I don't think you need this to be a secret OP because from what I have been seeing A LOT of people are rooting for them.

And the show is kind of presented in a way that you're supposed to get some feeling for the bad guys, a lot of the time we spend is with them.

WOW already a secret for The Following! A show that is beginning to grow on me.

There have been two others so far, I think. It pleases me.

I definitely wouldn't say I'm rooting for them, but there are moments where I find them quite interesting and I don't want them off the show yet.

As for Joe Carroll, I know he's supposed to be charming and that the rest of fandom adores him, but I just don't like him. At all. IDK.

Ryan and Mike are where it's at! ... But from the admittedly little I've seen from the fandom, it seems neither are very popular. Am I wrong? (Is there a fandom beyond Joe and these dudes?)

Oh I love Ryan and Mike. I find Joe interesting as the character he's intended to be, but I don't /like/ him. Well, I liked him for a moment once or twice in the flashbacks, but the point of those was to show you how magnetic he is. If we're picking dark-side yet almost endearing characters, I'm going with Emma. But Ryan and Mike are my favorites right now.

Joe is an interesting character but after every episode all I see is his face on my dashboard and it's starting to get to me, yea.

I'm not sure how I feel about Emma or Ryan and Mike yet. I'm glad it seems they'll be around for a while though.

I've been hoping the writers do realize they need to keep some of them around more long-term in order to create audience attachment. It can't just be Ryan and Joe and a bunch of two-episode-then-discarded characters.

Okay... I'm not sure whether or not to give it a chance then. Canonically gay characters would have me interested, but I'm so bored with just teasing.

They were pretending to be gay as part of a cover, but then they developed real feelings for eachother.

If you enjoy angst, you might give it a shot. If you want straightforward both characters are comfortable with the relationship, you won't find it here.

Mild spoilers for the first couple episodes:


Basically they both (initially, at least) identify as straight but were posing in a strategic relationship - but after the relationship is dissolved, questions of real feelings and identities get messy. It's not clear where they might end up.

I root for them to get naked whenever they are on screen, but I can't root for them otherwise, alas. It seems like 90% of fandom does root for them tho. So you are definitely not alone!

I was kinda rooting for the threesome, if they'd made it a happy one instead of just degenerating back into the pissiness and jealousy once the sex was over. (And no, it's not that I think any of these characters *deserve* to be happy, but watching them whine and angst is like nails on a chalkboard.)

Of course, now that everyone's at the Serial Killers' Mansion Of Sexy Murder And Murderous Sex, things aren't likely to improve. If they'd actually killed off Shawn Ashmore's character I would have been done.
