Your favorite accent to imitate?

[personal profile] mekkio 2013-03-12 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Forget about "what's your favorite accent?" I want to know what's the one that is most fun to do? (That isn't your own.)

I am walking around the house going, "CLAM CHODAHHHH!" and "The HOPPAH!" Cheesy fake Boston accents are a hoot to do. (My cousin is from Worcester, Mass and I am always imitating her to do. "IT'Z WEEHHCKED AHHHSOME!" One of these days, she is going to kick me where the sun doesn't shine. And I'll deserve it.)

Pittsburgh.

Mostly because "yinz" is just a fun thing to say.

I have to ask. What's "yinz?"

It is the way the people with strong Pittsburgh accents say the second person plural. The equivalent of "youse guys", "y'all", or "you all."

LUN-DUN, welcome to da ends bruv!
Seriously, London is just the most fun thing to talk like. I was on a school trip to Berlin and this group of Londoners were staying at our hostel. Not a single person could resist doing their accent when they were out of earshot. I'm Belfast (ah mummy jo, staahp) though so I don't really have room to talk, lol

Oh man, I can't do the New England accent well at all, but I will sometimes attempt it when I'm being stupid - especially when I'm pronouncing town names around here.

This might have something to do with the fact that I just watched a YouTube video of the Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC with commentary, but Scottish (or was it Irish...?) accents are all sorts of fun. :)

The Julia Child accent. When my sisters and I were kids, we played games that involved characters with that accent, so it's both fun to do and very nostalgic for me.

I like doing a hopped up Boston accent, too, but I live here so it's cool.

I also enjoy doing really, really terrible British and Australian accents.

Extremely fake 'posh' English.

Generic Southerner. I now live in southern England, after moving from Yorkshire and for all the piss that gets taken out of my accent, I give it right back. (A friend from Essex claimed that she wanted to have an accent and didn't believe me that she did infact have one, and a terrible one at that).

Also, a very stereotypical Mexican accent, to the point that it sounds like Speedy Gonzales.

Southern US. My parents moved to Tennessee after I moved out and any time I visit them I pick that accent up within 5 minutes. By the second day, nobody local has a clue that my accent is totally fake.

This has always been a personal pet peeve of mine because due to my lisp I have to pronounce words weirdly and because of it everyone around me says I speak British.

This has even been a bit of a joke whenever I go to foreign countries. When my family and I stayed in Bali, my sister and I had some fun in the swimming pool with a Mat Salleh (White man) kid from Britain (or was it Australia) and he thought I came from Britain!

My sister had a laugh that day.

I mutilate English sometimes with my Nyooo Yohkah "accent." Working at a call centre enabled my butchering of everything :(
