Yeah, the show has hit Sitcom middle-aged, all the characters have just become caricatures of themselves except for the one who started off as the caricature because they had to find something else for him to do because there was no way to get humor out of the character-contrast what with the other characters now being just as caricatured so they had to change to get any sort of laugh.

TL;DR In sitcoms eventually the straight characters become cartoons and the cartoonish characters become straight men.
