Oh god. (medical stuff)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 12:15 am (UTC)(link)I feel so stupid, because I could have denied medical treatment, and I really should have. I fainted and had a seizure while in class, and the medics got called and urged me to go, and I was telling them I don't have health insurance, but they insisted I go anyway.
And I was just so scared and unable to think that I went anyway. And I'm so paying for it, because it wasn't serious, and I only stayed in for like 4 hours and had a single test done, and I'm so fucked.
I am so fucked. I don't have a job, I don't have insurance, and I am so fucked. Oh god.

One thing that hospitals don't tell people is that bills are often negotiable. The crazy prices are what they charge at the highest, but they get discounted for insurance companies and they can get discounted for you. If you don't have the money, try calling them (or getting an advocate/parent/someone to call for you) and seeing what they can do for you. They might be willing to take a lot less if you can pay something smaller upfront.
