In one episode, Penny got drunk and hooked up for him for a night. Prior to that night, there was a point when she was super drunk and she kissed him and he pointed out she had too much to drink and wasn't thinking things through. So he obviously knew what the right thing to do was, but ignored it in this case. After they slept together Penny says its a one time thing. Later he gets drunk and tries to coerce her into sex with him. She says no and kicks him out. As he's walking away he says, "I think there's a double standard here."

And then there was that whole "I'm dating you, your friend can't sleep on YOUR couch in YOUR apartment that I have no right to tell you what to do with."

And then the more recent thing of the project partner that he tried to bully off from being friends with her. He got called out on it but that was seriously messed up.

Leonard is such a creep. Penny can be a total jerk too, but I find his "I'm a nice lonely harmless guy" routine to be grating.

Don't forget stealing her mail so he has an "excuse" to talk to her, only being nice to her when she's not with someone else, the whole "OH YOU CAN SAY YOU LOVE CHILI FRIES BUT YOU CAN'T SAY YOU LOVE ME" guilt trip, everyone in the entire show basically demanding that she apologize to Leonard for sleeping with Raj even though she and Leonard weren't dating ...

Or when he was dating Pria (Prya?) and was all "I wanna sleep with that geek girl (first and only real geek girl tbh)...fuck she kicked me out because I'm still attached. Fuck" but when he finds out Pria did the same (though actually sleeping with the guy) he gets huffy as SHIT and breaks up with her.

The whole thing made it sympathetic for HIM, but fuck his girlfriend, that lying, cheating, slut!!! Despite him essentially doing the same. But that's A-OK!!!

There was a double standard if Penny is allowed to get drunk and sleep with his ex and Leonard not. Not that it created any claim for him to get a freebie-sex like her, but it was a double standard.

I've watched three seasons now and I can't believe the massive hate Leonard gets. No, he's not perfect but who is and he doesn't believe he's either. Yes, he makes mistakes and gets jealous, who doesn't?

He might not think he is perfect, but he definitely thinks he is better than everyone else in the show. And not in the in-your-face-and-slightly-justified-except-for-that-boo-boo-with-Stephen-Hawking way that Sheldon does. Leonard does think he is better than everyone else.

He's better than Sheldon because Sheldon is weird.
He's better than Raj because Raj is an Indian Mute Who still has gaps in his grasp of American Idioms.
He's better than Howard because he knows Howard isn't a doctor but he oh-so-graciously doesn't hold it against Howard and knows Howard is grateful. Plus Howard is a horny geek.
He's better than Amy because Amy is just female Sheldon.
He's better than Bernadette because she is just Howard's girl.
He's better than Penny because poor Penny from hicksville who needs a Nice Guy like him to take her by the hand.

That is the mind of Leonard Hofstader. He might not be perfect, but in his mind he is the best around. And if anyone wants to confront him on not being perfect, then his mother provides a nice excuse for being screwed up.
