i'm posting a chapter of a fic i've been working on but i've never done this before so i don't know what to do with the rating. for the whole fic it'd probably be mature or teen but the chapter itself is milder than that.

so should i rate the chapter only, or the whole fic?? i'm assuming just for the chapter since that's all that's being posted atm, but i don't want to mess up.

eta: also applies to other things like character lists??? i don't... know... what to do lmao :(

I'd say post the high rating on every chapter. Someone might start reading it with the lower rating, then be surprised when the higher rating shows up later. This way, people know from the beginning that the fic will be "adult".

I usually rate for the whole thing, but if you want, you can rate for just the chapter and then go back and change the rating as you update the fic.

Character tags are kind of a thorny subject. I initially went for a more thorough approach, but some people dislike when characters who only play a minor role in a story are tagged, because they use the character tags to search for stories about their favorite characters and become disappointed when they find a story where their favorite is a side character. So maybe just tag whichever characters are important to the story?
