Um, I gotta agree with Noodles on this one. It's good to have dreams, but maybe you should shoot for more realistic goals.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)Yes? Wow, good luck with your career.
No? I think it is time to set aside "stressed", take a moment to feel "disappointment", and then find a more realistic goal.
I can understand angsting about an opportunity you will never have, though it's not a productive use of your time. But stressing over it? Huh.

You can't control what other people do, so the goal still may elude you.
But opportunities for acting and for reaching the public with creative work are more and more accessible to everyone.
Maybe start your own show, then invite him on it? It's easy to do a webseries today, compared to what the old broadcasting model was like.
I imagine if you're doing a webseries for the first time, learning everything, it won't necessarily be good, but you can work on it, practice, until it is excellent and amazing, and then maybe he will want to be on it.
I'm just brainstorming here. If none of this suits you, that's fine. But maybe it will prompt you to think of a better idea for yourself.

I also think there's a distinction to be made between "dream" and "fantasy." It's realistic for an actor to dream of being in a major motion picture. The idea of said actor working with a personal idol, however, is unlikely, and therefore a fantasy. It's important for a person to make a distinction between the two, because otherwise, that person might wind up unduly disappointed in his or her own accomplishments.

I always want to roll my eyes at people who claim that one should stick to their dreams and that if you really want, you can accomplish anything.
Because the only thing I ever really really dreamt of was to be a super-powered goddess (Dark Phoenix-like, or more).
If I hadn't learned to differentiate that from "realistic goal" and had kept obsessing and feeling sick about it, I would have been unable to find happiness in this life.
So, to get back to this secret :
- feel bad about not being able to play with a sill active actor? Not that much of a problem if you turn this angst into motivation to get closer to an opportunity of this happening.
- feel bad about not having played in a TV show that's been finished years ago? Now that it a waste of your energy.

Best of luck in your acting career, though. :)
