Nah, it is very 90s, but the 90s in an 80s way. That was the problem, same with Ghostlight. It was tailor made for the DVD generation. Which was a shame since the best they had was crappy home vhs.

Can't be 80s, the series ended in '89. The 90s was the book era.

Happiness Patrol is a 90s era tv show, but filmed in the late 80s with all the 80s bizarreness.

Yup. That's what makes it feel kind of bizarre -- it really ought to have been made in the '90s, with '90s stylings, because the story is extremely '90s.
