But Dirk/Jake was already canon. The wording really doesn't make sense if it's Dirk/Jake, because that pairing already has become canon. I'd expect "again" or "end game" or "get back together" if it was Dirk/Jake.

p.s. Bro/John shippers aren't that rare (I am one... >>), and I expect the same is true of Dirk/John. Also, a lot of people who are not heterosexual think they are at 13, so maybe OP is hoping John is one such person.

Yeah, that argument is getting a little tired. Also, you hear just as many folks saying that even if they didn't have the words for it, there was an awareness that they were different somehow a lot earlier than that.

But the fact of the matter is, we have no reason to disbelieve John. And nothing in the years of comics since he's said that has hinted to this theory.

*shrug* I thought I was straight when I was 13, so it seems like a pretty rational argument to me. Even if in retrospect, I can point at things and say "yeah that should have tipped me off", if you'd asked me when I was 13, I'd have said I was straight, and possibly been offended that anyone might have thought otherwise.

Anyway, I seriously doubt John would ever be revealed to be not-straight in canon, but in fanworks him realizing he's bi or whatever works fine for me. OP might need to buy some diapers, though, unless Hussie is even more of a troll than I think he is.

To clarify, I'm not talking about fanworks. I'm talking about the "this will be canon" folks who are powered more by hopes then substance. It's not limited to homestuck mind.

Yeah... I kinda wish it had a shot at being canon (if only because it would piss off so many homophobes and that would be hilarious), but I know it probably doesn't. I was just saying that it seemed feasible that the OP hoped Dirk/John could be canon, with the not-sure-at-13 explanation fueling their hopes.

But it wasn't actually a big fuss. It's the fandom who made a big fuss about it, not John.

(to be clear, I think it would be cool if John turned out not to be straight. but I doubt it would happen.)

Yeah, but...Dirk and Jake broke up. I don't really see them getting back together but I guess maybe they might? (I don't like that ship myself mainly because of how much of a douche Jake is)
