I keep hearing this, but I don't really understand what the issue is. Yeah some variety in the art style would be great instead of moeblobs all the time but I don't mind the stories being told now.

It's mostly that most characters where the characters are explicitly designed to be moe and pander to otakus, the characters usually have little to no variety in personality. They're just cookie-cutter personalities. Not that this isn't a problem to an extent with anime in general, but it's more pronounced in moe anime.

For me it's not only the art style but the stories, I can't stand shows about "cute X doing cute things" where nothing matters because the only appeal is the cuteness. It wouldn't be so bad if there were a couple of shows like that from time to time, but when there are so many is fuck no. I want some fucking effort into the characters and plots instead of just putting characters making stupid sounds and faces.
