Sherlock/John would be much more scandalous to the average viewer than Sherlock/Joan. If one of these ships were to become canon, it would definitely be the straight one, sorry to say.

Sorry to say this, but scandalousness is not the final arbiter of which ships become canon. Otherwise Will and Grace would have been a straight couple. Sherlock is a show that runs on sexual tension between the main cast, while Elementary isn't. From day one the Sherlock writers have been explicit that you're supposed to view them as a couple, they reiterate it repeatedly. Elementary does not.

Uh... no. You're mistaking no-homo jokes for... explicit canon baiting? And their "sexual tension" is regular tension filtered through your slash goggles.

Seriously I'm not sure what to do with this level of delusion

"No homo" jokes rely on you being able to see them as a couple and having sexual tension. The only other show I can remember with more of them per minute was with KD and Turk on Scrubs.

And I'm not saying that they're gonna totally make Sherlock/John canon, just that they're more likely to do so than Elementary considering that the concept of them as a couple is so centric to their frequent "no homo" jokes, which are central to the show's humor.

Uh... no.

It was JD and Turk and I'm not even a giant Scrubs fan. But you're right about the number of jokes.
