There have been some awesome season two-like moments in the past few episodes. Dean telling Sam about how he wants him to be safe...they're doing these trials from God to close the gates of hell...and Dean felt they should have fallen on him when they landed on Sam (the same person has to do all three trials). How Sam's going to have a "Clark Griswald" life full of prostate exams and colonoscopies and that Dean wants that for him. Dean's being self-depreciating by saying he's going a grunt and going to die with a gun in his hand. Dean also prayed to Cas to watch over his little brother.
