I find that people in fandoms with one major OTP tend to take it as a given that everyone in fandom just ships what they ship, and have even seen people claim that they don't think it's "psychologically possible" for people to ship anyone else.

Well, on the other hand there are TONS of the same type of assholes make it pretty much their fandom existence to prove how stupid shippers of the big ships are.

Yeah, I've come across that too. And then if another pairing somehow does become popular, it gives rise to the whole "watching the show/reading the book wrong" deal which is always hilarious to me when you're talking about ships that aren't and will never be canon.
