Most of her lyrics, at least on her early albums, came from typical ~teen~ poetry written in spiral notebooks in high school, fucking SERIOUSLY. Like, imagine a random teenagers ANGSTY AND BEAUTIFUL POETRY becoming top 40 pop hits. I'm not really that surprised given the state of modern music and the country music industry but geez

/before someone accuses me of hating on teen girls and being a misogynist, my criticism of teen girl poetry goes for any poetry written by a teen in general (teenage boys write "poetry" too, but it usually comes in the form of immature rap songs)
