I'm genuinely happy for you. But most people have a much harder time losing that much and keeping it off long-term.

I've actually kept it off for more than five years now. It's not hard to maintain weight loss if you do it the right way, which means changing your overall lifestyle rather than just trying to diet.

Diets don't work, period. People turn to them first because they want an easy, instant fix but the truth is that there is no instant fix. It took me almost a year to lose all of the weight and there were times when the scale didn't budge at all.

I've seen friends of mine try to start eating healthier and then get upset when they only lost a pound or two a week because that wasn't fast enough for them and in their mind that meant it wasn't working. It's a slow process but once you make the change toward eating healthier and exercising more, it sticks with you.

What you're saying isn't wrong, but you're being awfully preachy and kind of condescending. Please just stop, this isn't the place.

DA. Don't be so touchy. That wasn't preachy or condescending.

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on both of those things.

lol yes because pointing out the truth is totally preachy and condescending.

Okay, seriously? This is twenty pounds. That isn't the dramatic transition from obese to skinny. That's just twenty pounds.

Twenty pounds sounds like A LOT to me. It can be the difference between being fat and average weight or thin and severely underweight.

20 lbs at my height IS the difference from obese to skinny.
