20. I will never understand why people get so upset over this. I mean, I could kind of understand if they were writing fanfiction, because their characterization would probably be off and it might perpetrate annoying fanon cliches about the characters. But if someone just mentions that they happen to be interested in a fandom or pairing and haven't experienced the canon, why is that such a huge crime?

Final Fantasy VII has the unusual fandom quality where probably half or so of the fandom has not played the game.

It gets a little frustrating to the fans of the original. I mean, it's a 50+ hour game or something, you can't just explain every detail satisfactorily in wikipedia.

I don't have a problem with fans in my other fandoms who aren't totally familiar with the canon. Stuff happens. But it's such a large number in the FFVII fandom that it's impossible to just ignore the existence of fans who haven't played the game.

Well-said. It's gotten pretty damn ridiculous, that's for sure. :/
