I'd understand a bit if, I don't know, you owned KHR or something? I don't get the whole "I hate when things I like get popular" mentality, I guess. I don't think that not being there from the beginning makes anyone less of a fan, the same way I don't think being there from the beginning makes you any MORE of a fan than others.

Actually, I had a similar experience. Someone I really disliked started getting into KHR. Know what I did? Ignored them. Don't pay any attention to them and just associate with the people in the fandom whom you DO like. It's not that big a deal.

Plus, one person isn't anything in the eyes of a publisher, so without fans, where the hell would any series be?

Without other fans, could you have even gotten into the fandom? Do you know Japanese? Would you have liked it as much if those "other fans" weren't around to scan/translate? It just doesn't make any sense to me.
