3. I was in love with James as a kid, and whenever I'm flipping channels and see an old Pokemon episode is on, I sit and watch it and fangirl every time James comes on the screen. XD; My friends know, though.

13. I'll admit I'm a bit of a slash fangirl, but I understand EXACTLY what you mean. I honestly found Brokeback Mountain to be insufferably unrealistic and incredably boring, and every time I tell someone that, they look at me like, "YOU HOMOPHOBE!" And I'm too lazy to explain to them otherwise. I also never really liked the show Queer as Folk, because I didn't really like any of the characters, and it was impossible to get into. OH. And Rent. I hated Rent, and I was so disappointed because I really wanted to see it, and then it SUCKED. I was so angry. I hate how in movies/tv shows/ect. if it concentrates on homosexuality, someone always dies of AIDS or being beaten to death by homophobes. Its like its impossible for gay people to survive to the end of a freaking movie and just grow old, or God forbid get hit by a bus or something normal.

26. Haha, in every secret I've ever posted in either [livejournal.com profile] ljsecret or [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets, there's (at the very least) one other person in this world that knows. I'm not particularly secretive about my "secrets" either, but I post them here and on [livejournal.com profile] ljsecret because I know I'll find someone who understands better. Don't let being open about things stop you. XD

Re: 13

You can see me agreeing above there, and Brokeback Mountain bored me as well, but do you mind if I respectfully disagree with your opinion on Rent? I've been a fan of the play since middle school, so I'm probably sentimentally biased, but I think you sort of missed the point of it. I'm not a fan of things that focus on the characters' sexualities and the problems that result from them, and I'm not a fan of AIDS constantly cropping up around gay characters. But in Rent it doesn't feel like that. You've got characters of all different sexualities and it's certainly not just the gay ones that have AIDS. I think the point was more that EVERYBODY has problems. And Angel's death was less to do with the fact that he was a gay character and more to do with the fact that he was almost too good to last. *shrugs* My two cents at least.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, no, I know, that wasn't my main reason for disliking the movie, it was just that Angel was my favourite character out of it and I was pissed that he had to go out like so many homosexual characters before him. :/

And I can understand you disagreeing with me, certainly. I'm used to it, especially with that movie, and I'm willing to bet that if I'd seen the play first I may have felt differently, because I adored the performance of Phantom of the Opera, but when I saw the movie, I felt like it was entirely lacking. Oh well.

[identity profile] ill-ame.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, well no problems, then. Sorry if I've added myself to the ranks of people who get on your case for not liking the movie - we're all entitled to our opinions after all, just felt like voicing mine as well, haha. :)

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, people are usually quite nice about it, and you weren't at all judgmental or mean. :) Its the people that don't even give me a chance to finish my sentence before screaming, "HOMOPHOBIC BITCH!" that annoy me. XD

[identity profile] ill-ame.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, that's obnoxious. I think this would make a good addendum to the original secret - just because something has gay characters, that doesn't mean it'll be wonderful AND just because someone doesn't like something with gay characters, that doesn't mean they're homophobic. I know loads of very open people who don't like Rent, so believe me you're not alone.

Haha, yaay! XD

Yes, yes, and more yes.

I never saw that problem... but that's probably because I'm an English major. XD I read too much stuff where EVERYONE either gets infected with horrible diseases or gets murdered.

Your explanation of Brokeback Mountain is perfect. However, I was already a long way into the 'too long' department to even try to fully explain that one.

I'm more open-minded than most of the gay people I know. I support trans-genderism, asexuality, pansexuality and don't critisize heterosexuals. Yet I get that "You must be a narrow-minded loser" rant a lot when I admit to disliking QAF or Brokeback.
I've never seen Rent, actually but I can't decide whether or not I want to.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
XD Thank you. I know what you mean, I'm conservative, for the most part, so people automatically assume that I hate gays and am a close-minded jerk. They hear that I didn't like those movies or QAF and have a field day, even though I fully support GBLTQ and gay marrige and all that.

Well, don't let my opinion of it effect your decision on seeing it or not. I mean, most people adore it. I'm just one of those weirdos, I guess.

Aw, thank you. ^_^ All my HP-based icons are twins-centric, sadly. The twins are my favourite characters in that whole series, and I am still in denial about the end of the seventh book.

Backing you up on #3. When I was twelve, James was the man for me! There's nothing quite like being a kid in love with the before-school cartoons. :3

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I hear that! I thought I was the only one, though, because all my friends liked Ash and Brock...but what can I say? I've always been a sucker for a man who plays dress-up. XD

[identity profile] khukuri.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. If you listen carefully during any given episode of Pokemon, you can almost hear a whole generation of girls spontaneously developing crossdressing kinks. It's like holding up a seashell, except full of questionable sexuality.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
XDD I don't think I've ever heard such a fitting analogy! I honestly think that he's the reason for my thing for girly boys in general. XP

[identity profile] khukuri.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
My boyfriend has more dresses than me. :T His hair isn't purple yet, but it will be. It will be.

The love of girly boys is a strong thing indeed! Oh man, I am so going to go watch the growlithe episode now. :3

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Aaah! *pines* I want to watch like, a Pokemon marathon, now. XD;

I wish I had a boyfriend who wore dresses. My ex is pretty metro, but I dunno if he'd wear a skirt. XD
