There's nothing wrong with it at all, and that's basically where the problem lies--there's not much room for the character to go through any changes or development. This doesn't mean that a nice character can't be interesting, but that's something more often than not included when writing that archetype.

I can understand that. When writers do that I wouldn't be surprised if people are upset about it. I'm just tired of a lot of people going 'nice = mary sue/ badly written/ dull and uninteresting.'

Never once in my secret did I say "Mary Sue." I have no idea where people are getting that. And I never said that nice was bad. The archetype I dislike is the epitome of nice to the point that I can't suspend disbelief anymore.

"No flaws" is only part of the definition of Mary Sue, not the whole.
