I'm WTFing a little that you meant something other than odors, since in my experience those tend to be more tenacious than whatever caused them.

Really? Huh. Like I said previously I've only dealt with cotton but I've never had a smell linger in clothing after the stain that caused them has been removed.

I've also never heard anything about lingering sex smells ruining fabric, just 'stains' caused by semen or vaginal secretions.

It's mostly synthetics that have that problem, so if you're wearing pure-cotton only it's unlikely to be an issue for you.

I haven't ever had anything lingering to the point of the garment being ruined- none of the odors are strong enough to be detectable from more than a few centimeters away- but no mater how many times they're washed they never really smell clean and fresh.
