honestly don't like any of this, and I think it could be argued it's not entirely a matter of taste and that objectively there's a lot working against these

Any time someone uses the word "objectively" in a discussion about whether or not one should like a particular piece of media, I pretty much assume that s/he is a pompous dick who's trying to rationalize his/her pomposity.

There are no objective standards. There are just people who want to believe themselves culturally superior.

Never claimed that any fault in the art should stop anyone from liking it, obviously a lot of people like his style. But there are shortcomings as with any art- many of his panels have colors schemes that clash and/or don't work, his stylistic perspective is oftentimes inconsistent, the usage of photos often feels out of place and jarring. I get the look Hussie's going for, but if people are going to argue that his art is so amazing that it's beyond critique, or that there isn't anyone in the world who could possibly dislike or find fault with them... Yrah, that's BS.

No, merely that if you posit that the Homestuck art is objectively ugly I think you may need a calibration.
