Re: Why is death considered the easy way out?

Because if you come out of it (and since it's probably mental in your case, that possiblity exists), you're going to look back and feel pretty stupid about how close you were to ending shit if you were seriously entertaining that.

When does that kick in? Because it has been years since my suicide attempt and I'm much better off both physically and mentally and things are going pretty great for me and I still don't think it would have been terrible if I had succeeded. I wouldn't commit suicide now but looking back I know what it would have saved me from going through and seeing as it wasn't permanent I find it hard to judge someone in a situation they know they will never overcome.

How do you or they know they will never overcome it?

I think OP may be referring to many issues including terminal and chronic incurable diseases and severe, untreatable or unmanageable mental illness.

ETA: Actually, though, I'm not sure what kind of the pain OP is reffering too . It is unclear when I'm rereading this thread. Maybe OP is just referring to severe depression, etc. and suicidal thoughts.

I really, really don't think you're anywhere close to recovered, then. Seek help.

I'm getting help. I'm doing great. Is it really so difficult to understand that sometimes people experience things so horrific the thought of not experiencing the best of what life has to offer seems a better alternative than having those memories and the knowledge there are thousands of other people going through similar situations and you can't help them?
