Am I the only one who gets what OP is saying? Normal people, the ones that are not into fandom, the ones that do not read smutfic, masturbate to. And they get off to..whatever normal people get off to, pure original fantasy, or memories or whatever. The OP is unable to do that, they can get off only to what someone else put in their head.

Pretty much this. Personally, I get uncomfortable with porn because I can't get over the fact that these are actual people and they're usually not enjoying it nearly as much as they act. I think it's also considered normal to get off to original smut fiction (harlequin romance and such), so it's odd that fanfic is considered to strange.

That's not how it reads to me. '...particular smutfic [b]will always[/b] do it.' Not 'is the ONLY THING that does it', or 'is the ONLY THING I can ever get off to'.
