(Anonymous) 2013-03-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)Yes, they're very difficult to pull off which is why, when they're done well, crossovers are my favorite type of fic.
When there's more than two fandoms in a crossover it just feels like the author grabbed whatever fandoms they were obsessing with at the time and smashed them together. They clearly intend for it to be some super-mega-awesome thing but instead end up with, at best, a mediocre mush.
