This is a copypasta, isn't it? No one can be so stupid.

Nope. I would have said if it was.

These are just my feelings on the matter.

Then you need to check your nostalgia goggles. Things haven't changed, the only reason we have more shit now is because many more shows are produced nowdays than 10 years ago. Plus most of us were kids/teenagers back then, if we could watch as adults for the first time most of the shows we used to love, we would think that they are pretty mediocre.

That and the truly awful wasn't as nearly accessible, y'know?

I still watch those shows I mentioned and I still love them. I started watching them as a teenager and here I am at 23 still a fan. What can I say, I'm a kid at heart.

Aaaaaaaaand that's totally true.

Back then there were shitty things to be sure (and oh, how embarrassing they could be in their glorious corniness) but since the quantity of shows altogether wasn't that big, you could sort through most of them and take your pick or even not pick anything at all.

Now there is so much crap to wade through that you can easily get discouraged and say to yourself that you'll stick to the oldies you love. (as a good example - FF.net)

As a general example, I have about 300 channels on TV and 80% of the time I want to watch something that's even a little interesting, I stumble upon a-dime-a-dozen movies, retarded, low quality shows and all in all very few gripping TV shows.

Of course that there are still interesting things to watch and that's why I keep opening my TV. The only difference is that television is always there so there are chances of accidentally stumbling upon good shows and TV series without having to hunt them down.

In my country there is barely any anime culture and nothing is sold so the only way for me to get animanga is to hunt for it on the Internet. That is to say dedicate serious time to find something I could like.

Looking for animanga on the Internet > having to look through dozens of bad shows > disappointment > sticking to the old anime until something gets acclaimed loudly enough to draw my attention.

TL;DR There weren't so many anime in the olden times so I could take my pick easily. Now that I have to wade through so much crap to get to the hidden gems and fanservice/moe moe/harem shows jump me from everywhere, I'm less inclined to take my pick of anything and instead just bolt to my oldies and sing them praises.

How's that?

So long as things like Utakoi are being made, I'll know anime still has the spark.
