OMG, me too.

I HATE Supernatural and I do not understand how anyone can bear to watch it for more than 10 minutes, much less enjoy it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel this way about Supernatural and Sherlock.

Yay, the hate thread! I hate SPN and Doctor Who. If we join forces with the anon above, the hatred combo will be complete.

....suddenly, you make a lot more sense as a person. You used to utterly baffle me.

Not that I like you any more, because getting into a debate about the nitty gritty details of a show without admitting upfront that you hate the show wholesale is gross and deceptive, but at least you make sense.

??
Ah, whatever. I suppose I'm just amazed that somebody actually cares. Never quite got used to it. You're talking about a DW discussion regarding power imbalance, right? I'd say it was very general. I'm not, as you may understand, terribly familiar with the canon source, so I do not have an opportunity to discuss it in detail.

But this thing up there is sarcasm. In fact, I hardly feel anything about Supernatural; Doctor Who creeps me out slightly, but it's nothing serious.

If I'm permitted to ask, what is baffling about me?.. It's not like I even have much of an online personality.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I just distinctly remember wondering what kind of weird view of the show you must have, because how the hell do you possibly enjoy the show if you have THAT opinion?

Now it makes sense. Well, the actual opinion you professed doesn't make sense, because I'm pretty certain it's impossible to get any empirical evidence in the real world that shows that completely platonic friendly interaction between a person who's centuries old and a person who's normal-aged is magically ickybadwrong on principle and a horrible thing that should never happen. Since, y'know, it has never ever happened IRL before. But at least now I understand how it was possible for you to hold the opinion.

Which is okay. I mean, I irrationally think that workplaces where we're supposed to be glad when coworkers are sleeping with each other are fundamentally dumb. Which is a stupid opinion too, but I don't ever try to discuss character dynamics in procedurals while pretending to be a fan.

I see; so your perplexity is based on that conversation only? I thought you formed an opinion about me as a person, and I was surprised that anyone could (and would bother to) do that after reading my f!s posts. After all, I'm a newcomer.

And I understand your frustration, though I don't feel like I should've explicitly stated that I wasn't a fan. My feelings regarding DW are indeed quite irrational - but so are all my feelings, since I think that "rational feelings" is a bit of an oxymoron. Yet I can do emotional theorizing; and I have fun engaging in discussions. I suspect that it's the reason most people hang out in fandom at all [apart from shipping and squeeing, that is. I love squeeing, but sometimes there's nothing to squee about and I'm bored. Besides, I love hearing people explain their fandom preferences].

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
No, there were a couple of other conversations of yours in other fandoms that made me boggle a bit, but I'm starting to think those were similar situation.

Yeah, I get irrational feelings (I don't think rational feelings is an oxymoron though. Emotions are not the enemy of logic), but I just assumed you were a fan so I was like "but how?" Maybe because I'm not hardcore involved in the actual DW fandom and mainly just watch the show so I don't really know what kinds of opinions the fandom holds, but it confused me.

You post prolifically enough under your username for people to develop an opinion about you. Don't worry, I'm not stalking you. I have ~opinions~ about a couple dozen other posters here as well.

you had to say that, and now I'm here wondering which of use you've been noticing and opining about.

I'm soooo vain I probably think this song is about me!

WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE THINGS I DON'T LIKE???

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
WHY ARE PEOPLE NOT ALLOWED TO NOT LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE???

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who.

All three of them can disappear and I'd never notice.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently you're considerably less worked up about it than many people.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't bear to watch more than 10 minutes of SPN but I still read the fic.

I enjoyed watching Sherlock but I can't stand most of the fic.

So crossovers- not so much.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Because maybe not everyone in the world has the same opinion as you? I know. Shocking, right?
