SPN and DW both fall under the sci-fi/fantasy/horror umbrella and frequently involve monsters and/or global-stake apocalyptic drama, with a side of humor and a side of surreal. I can see why the same people would like both of them, and decide they'd be an interesting combination, though doing it well is difficult.

But Who and SPN have basically completely opposite worldviews and atmospheres and understandings of reality. I don't see how a crossover could mesh in a way that was remotely believable except as a deconstruction of each other.

I don't get the impression that DW's understanding of reality is terribly consistent.

But yeah, they're very different. A successful crossover takes a deft touch and a careful balancing act.

That's true. Especially between showrunners. I'm glad of it, because reinvention is what keeps the show running, but boy does it make for some massive fan confusion :D
