They aren't exactly massive spoilers considering the ending of the last episode, but the tone of this interview really put me off. I might be overreacting but I thought the tone was just really flippant, especially how they keep referring multiple times to the "rape room". I also don't like how it implies that while Andrea is most likely going to be raped, Michonne might be as well (like she was in the comics) and, hell, who knows who else he might rape because they're using it as a lazy plot device anyway so they might as well get the most out of it. I know rape was something used in the comic, but I just don't think it's necessary to move the story forward. The only good thing I see coming out of this is that his fangirls can finally stop saying "omg he's not like the comics!governor, he's not an evil rapist!!!".

don't you worry, I'm sure they'll manage to woobiefy him somehow! never doubt

The WRITERS aren't the ones referring to it as the "rape room". Notice how Kirkman never uses it, it's the INTERVIEWER who keeps on asking him about it.

Seriously. A little reading comprehension.

No he wasn't, you moron. He was being vague about what was going to happen but he never confirmed anything about an actual rape happening.

I don't really have a dog in this fight but I think this paragraphshows that Andrea will, in all liklihood, be raped: "The way this season was laid out, it fell into place that Andrea was going to have to fall prey to the Governor in a pretty serious way. We're seeing that now. It's really about her being very focused on what's going on with this conflict and worrying about if she can save Woodbury and the prison. It's really closed her window of escape and led her to this point. It's going to be a rough time for Andrea"

I mean, yeah I guess she might escape or get out of it with only getting beat on a little but lbr, the writers need an easy way to prove once and for all that the governor is a complete monster and considering he did the same thing to another character in the comics, I guess this is how they'll do it. At any rate, we'll find out tomorrow!

Also no dogs involved, heh, but I find it interesting, given the scope of the Governor's torture chamber (they spent that whole scene showing him gleefully prepping hammers and knives and plyers and sutures) that a "mere" rape is what people are fixed on. Not to say that her being raped wouldn't be horrific, but the bastard seemed to be planning a serious HOSTEL scenario with all those blades and burners. I don't think, in reality, AMC or the WD writers would go quite so far (she'll probably be saved last minute from either situation, or it'll fade to black) but the implications of what he wants to do, at least imho, were way more terrifying than "only" a sexual assault. Don't forget the speculum. *shudders*

Re: SPOILERS

It's entirely possible. There's no limit to the lengths that this guy will go to. He's thrown all caution to the wind here in these final days leading up to the conflict. Things could get pretty terrible moving forward

Ugh, I'm so sick of the governor (yeah, yeah he's an important character in the comics I don't care). I really hope kirkland was trolling and the episode has Andrea stabbing the fuck out of him so we can be done with this fucking awful plotline.

na

lol if Andrea isn't the one to kill him at some point in the show's future I will be forever disappointed. I really, really hope she does.

I too will be unreasonably sad if she isn't the one to do him in. That would be great.
