Yes, people make up words all the time and sometimes they catch on and become acceptable parts of our vocabulary.

It's certainly a particularly nonsensical word. People who are literally afraid of heterosexuals are probably reacting to a trauma, not a social prejudice.

It might be productive to have a word for "hostility directed at the concept of heterosexuality", because that does occur, but it's a very different flavor of hostility than that associated with homophobia. Sexuality-related spite and bitterness?
