All I know about American football, I learned from Eyeshield 21! And actually, I've heard that it did follow the rules very closely. Obviously you got like, chapters worth of talking while the play in question lasted maybe five seconds, but the rules themselves were followed and if they were broken, they were broken and the involved players got punishments.
