Actually, kudos for this one. If I were in a different mood I'd probably bite. Especially for the Iliad comment. And the 'no talented writers' thing! Very nice.

Although the bad fanart to good fanart and bad fanfic to good fanfic ratios are...probably about equal. It makes me wonder when people think either one requires little effort to do well, because you can't just write or draw any old thing and have it be any good.

And well, you don't have to be paid for something for it to be worthwhile as a piece of art.
