My thoughts? When you're expressing yourself under an account name, you're cultivating and establishing an identity. Through that, over time, people can form opinions about you, and develop judgments specific to who you appear to be. They can also follow you and/or track you down if they feel so inclined. If you care about all of this, then what you think really starts to matter. You don't want to be judged unfavorably, and you also don't want to let down those who've begun to see you in a particular way. So, you're stunned into inaction.

My feeling is: don't go back to being anonymous as others are suggesting. Force yourself to do what you'd normally do under your account. It'll feel better, in the long run. And it'll help you to just be you.

That last bit is pretty good advice, but it can be difficult to get there for some people.
