Re: Movies you've seen this week?
My degree's technically called "Studies in Cinema and Media Culture," so film is a main focus, but I do like the media culture part.
Oh, cool! I don't know if it's different in Norway/Europe, but I know that in the US you don't necessarily need a degree in production to get a production job, so we should be fine, I think. :) Casting sounds really good, too; when I first started thinking about going into film/tv I wanted to do editing or screenwriting, but I really like the idea of being a Production Coordinator/Manager or something in that area. Don't think I'd want to teach at a University, myself, but if I can't find work in this field at all I have a couple of ideas of back-up plans.
Re: Movies you've seen this week?
I want to take some media culture subjects too, but my school don't offer a lot of them.
Yeah, you don't really need a degree in anything to work in film. But it helps. And when you get a degree it is better to have a wider degree because then they can use you for more than one thing. It is all up to timing and luck though.
I will be okay if I end up teaching at a Uni, my back up plan if everything fails in film and tv is to become a prison guard though. Which in Norway is a caring (like nursing) job, also if you get into the school you are guaranteed a job.
