I'm pretty sure this is an old fan upset at the changes rather then somebody who hasn't seen it yet.

I figured they were an older fan it's just... the new change doesn't obliterate how it used to be? So... there's no reason to be upset?

I think the argument here is most new readers are going to read the books in the order they are numbered, and likely not research the background first.

Well, I hate to break it to them, I read it in this order and I love the series just fine. I already knew about wardrobe, not because of The Magician's Nephew, but because of cultural osmosis. And yet, it didn't ruin a thing.

Plus, what do they care how new people get into or like a fandom as long as they enjoy it? I swear, this is the Star Trek reboot all over again.

Well, the ST films are more 'this all over again', since this argument has been ongoing since the 50s. (Or at least the 60s. I can't remember offhand when Lewis was asked to weight in.)

Ahaha, true. I was thinking about the wank cycles of F!S where we talked about the ST Reboot thing first. (More?)

But yeah, Narnia has been having this wank for a while. I remember coming upon a little bit of the wank when I tried to figure out what to read first at the library. The internet had a few things to say about the history of it. I mostly ignored it though because I just wanted to figure out the order that I would appreciate most.

This old fan doesn't see why it's such an issue how others choose to read the series. Sure they're not going to catch the back and forth details, but they're not going to get all the details on first readings anyway.

So what does it matter if they do or do not reaearch the bg to read iin publication order versus chronological. Let them have their fun :
