Why does everyone think this is a troll? They submitted it to fandomSECRETS because an opinion like this is not acceptable among the fandom masses!

1. Because the same badly-supported opinion showed up a day or two ago.

And 2. Because principles of charity require that we try to assume that no one is really that stupid, until absolutely proven otherwise.

Because of the last paragraph. I'm having a hard time believing that a non-troll who is in fandom would describe fanficers as "scared of actual characterization and decent writing". The wording is ridiculously and no doubt intentionally inflammatory.

As an anon said, the language and statements made are inflammatory. Also, the bonus secret - it could easily incite negative reactions from non-smut writers and readers. I mean, the idea that fansmut is any better is arguably completely silly. I don't give a crap that someone said it, but others might.

I'm usually reluctant to call troll until I know more, but this one stands out very obviously to me.

In addition to the above, you do realize that just because it was submitted to fandomsecrets doesn't mean that no one has ever cooked up a secret that isn't true just to fuck with people, right? There have even been secrets where people admitted to doing that.

But yeah, besides that, this secret is basically telling people how to enjoy their fandoms. You only do that if you're pretentious or trolling, especially around here.
