How many actual fairy tales has he actually read? o.0 Most of the fairy tales I've read are about men who overcome obstacles in order to save the day for themselves and/or everyone else. The men are sometimes surrounded by women, but those tend to exist only as backstory, motivation, temptation and threats to the hero: mothers, love interests, witches. And resourceful helpers; those are probably the ones that come the closest to playing an active role, but the hero would still usually get all the glory (AFAICR).
