From what I'm getting from previews/marketing/reviews, Columbia (at the start anyway) comes off as brighter and cheerier overall, at least at first glance--you can walk around Columbia and just see people going around their day-to-day lives listening to anachronistic barbershop quartets and the like.

That being said, I've seen a lot of pretty scary stuff happen, too, like (minor spoilery stuff since this is all stuff you could see in trailers and preview clips but whited out just in case) [a man being eaten alive by crows, Booker having a delusion of his hands burning off to the bone when he first gets the fire-themed Vigor, Elizabeth being hunted by that Songbird thing, enemies that are apparently half-human half-weird cyborg that may or may not have actually chosen to be transformed that way?] so it looks like there's still going to be plenty of spooky stuff. It just might not be a CONSTANT scary experience like the first two games were. I'm thinking it'll be scary moments mixed with moments of respite where you can just wander around and see cool and/or only slightly unnerving and creepy things (like the blatant racism in Columbia).

Damn, I've def watched previews but I don't remember seeing some of what you mentioned. Apparently I haven't been watching the good stuff.

Ah well, it's tomorrow so I won't have to wait long! This actually makes me even happier about the games release, because I was convinced it wasn't going to be as creepy as the original BioShock. It still might not, but it sounds like they fit in quite a few eerie things.

Haha, well some of the stuff I mentioned came out pretty recently, I think. The crows one was in a gameplay clip that Game Informer did.

But yeah, I'm HYPED. so, so hyped. I just have to get all my work done before the game is finally available to play on my PC...I hope you enjoy the game!
