Just found out today that My Chemical Romance officially announced their breakup a couple days ago.

Definitely my bummer of the day.

Other than that, I just want to say that they were a really good band, and weirdly, I think them breaking up is going to lead a lot of people to reappraise them and remember how awesome they were. I know it has for me

Definitely made MY day, though!

Especially considering half the bands that I like that aren't just shopping carts tumbling down an escalator keep breaking up. Isis, Beloved, Transmission0, Secret and Whisper, Battle of Mice -- all gone, and the world is lesser for it. So MCR breaking up is doing me (and the rest of the world) a favor.

Same here. I don't expect to get any sympathy about it from people who love being snobby about other peoples' music tastes, but it still makes me sad that they're no longer a band. :(

My sister sent me this http://propertyofzack.com/post/46183656515/rumors-of-my-chemical-romance-faking-own-death-begin about the conspiracy theory that they broke up because they wanted to escape their label and reform under a new name, but then Gerard's longer post about the break up went up and that thread of hope is seeming pretty tenuous now.

I'm pretty bummed too. I have super fond memories of crying all my stress out while listening to them as an older teen, and I was really looking forward to hearing their new stuff. :(

My daughter spent all day Sat - i think that was the day it was announced? - DJing all their music at top volume and wandering into my office-room here from time to time to show me pictures of Gerard Way and do this fake-but-kind-of-real sob thing.

Holy crap, I finally know the reason I've been on such a huge MCR kick for the last week after years of not listening to them. IT WAS A SIGN... that went completely over my head lol

Late but...yeah. I just put two posts up on my Facebook about it. Pretty embarrassing. I wasn't a big fan of theirs, even though I think I like them more than I'm willing to admit, but I enjoyed their music. I especially REALLY loved their Black Parade album. That I am not ashamed to admit I loved the hell out of.

On the flip side, though, their breakup doesn't mean much. I guess it's just me getting older because bands or groups breaking up used to be the biggest deal EVAR! But now, whatever. Hopefully, some of these guys will come out with new material, be it solo projects or new bands. Or it could be that my favorite band broke up and Jack White's still churning out solid work and merch that I don't mind much (but I do miss Jack and Meg T~T ).

Chin up, kids! Better to burn out than fade away, right?
