You forgot the worst part, she LIED all of those years to Henry's face. Henry believed everyone in Storybrooke were characters from a his book and Regina laughed it off like it was nonsense and sent Henry to Hoppers. And she knew every bit of it was true. And she wasn't doing it to protect Henry. She did it so she could keep on having her revenge.
