One of the running themes of Homestuck seems to be that the relationships you form when you're a teenager are *usually* dysfunctional and often don't last very long. See also: Jade and Davesprite, Dave and Terezi, Karkat's moirallegiance with Gamzee, etc. I personally find it a lot more realistic than the alternate idea that shows up so often: that whoever you date in your teens is going to end up being your True Love Forever.

Yessss. Oh god, I shipped Bro/Equius long before Dirk was even introduced, so the fact that Dirk/Equius is even semi-feasible now is thrilling to me.

Yessssss! Dirk/Happiness is the best. I was kind of secretly hoping Jane and Dirk would run off together into the sunset to solve crime and watch chick flicks together. i really liked their convo together after crashing from trickster mode. oh god they can do so much better for serious

Although, if Jake hadn't been getting on my nerves before that with the cluelessness, I probably would have been disappointed it sunk. Still, I was also pretty glad he showed some vulnerability in his conversation with Roxy. It made him likable again for me.

I also love Jane and Dirk together and I really loved that whole section. It's nice to see characters actually communicating and acknowledging their issues.

But you're right, it was silly of me to not include the horseshoe when talking about Equius. Is "it was past my bed time" a reasonable excuse?

I feel pretty much the same way about Roxy. I just want both of them to be happy.

I also didn't really like Jake, so I wasn't too attached to the pairing. He was waaaaaaayyyy too heavy on the whole "clueless douche" thing. Unless he can actually get his act together, I pity anyone who ends up with him.

I really agree with this. I was never invested in DirkJake though. The head kiss was awesome just because it was epically done, but the pairing...it felt forced to me, tbh. And I'm at the end of my rope with Jake. Dirk deserves better.
