Why are you ashamed of listening to it? Are you one of those kids that is scared of growing up and thinks all grups are evil? Are you too young to have seen Logan's Run? Probably.

Newsflash: EVERYONE GETS OLD. Sometimes old people do things like make music and have lives.

That's true.

And yes, I am scared of growing up, as irrational as that is, even though I'm 21. I know The Giver was loosely based on Logan's Run, but I haven't read the book or seen the movie.

(above commenter) The worst thing about our culture today is that it throws the old people out to pasture, thinking they have absolutely nothing to offer. That's why you're feeling this way. The only thing we can do is change it -- say, "hey, this is great music," and don't worry about how old someone is.

It's not an irrational fear. The future is scary for all of us. :)

I found Colin Rudd about seven years ago, and love his music. I told him, and exchanged some emails, and he's a really nice chap. He wanted to record his music, and approached Priscilla Tolkien, who absolutely vetoed it. A great shame, and I am so pleased he shares his music for nothing on YouTube.
Super-nice fella, makes lovely ballads from Tolkien's poems. That's a complete win imho.

Are you serious? I don't know why anyone would veto it unless for copyright reasons, which AFAIK the Tolkien Estate tends to be protective of. If she vetoed it just because she didn't like it - and I know there's no way to know, really - then I'm not sure why, because I much prefer his music to the Tolkien Ensemble or whatever they're called.

Yes, I agree! It's gorgeous music, especially the flute. It's a pity he's stopped posting on Youtube.

I believe it was the copyright issues. She wouldn't entertain it for a moment, which I found ridiculous. I think what he created was some beautiful ballads that were a homage to Tolkien, and I would have loved to see them on the market.

I am really glad he left the music up, even if he is not posting any-more.
