Exactly this. Ouija boards and psychics are all scum who want to take advantage of other people's grief to make money.

I think that some of them genuinely believe they or their tools have special powers, and are genuinely trying to help people. I think they're wrong, mind you, but there are at least some "psychics" out there who are sincere in their wrongness.

I used to think sorta like this, but my boyfriend got a palm reading for his birthday before he met me, and the reading he got was surprisingly accurate (like, sequence-of-events accurate, not just generic, applies-to-almost-any-situation accurate). I can't say that all of them are that good, but I really can't question the existence of spiritual energy and whatnot anymore.

That said, I still question Ouija boards, and I don't think there's any way to contact the dead, but not all psychics are created equally. Some of them may actually be on to something.

So, it's true. If you don't put "I think" in front of something, then it is not considered a secret. If you put "I think" in front of something, that it is considered a secret.

Disappointing.

Why is this such a shocker?

The "I think" makes it an opinion. Not including it makes it come across as a factual statement. Facts can't be secrets.

But there are no factual statements in fandom, aside from, like, "Actor A plays Character B."

That's why it's so annoying.

Also, sometimes you can slip a fact in by just adding "I think." So I could said, "I think Aisha Tyler plays Lana on Archer" and it would be a secret, despite the fact that it's a fact.
